Thoughts on Facebook LIKES and Fan Pages

I've been meaning to write about this for quite some time...but todays post is about Facebook LIKES.

There is nothing more amusing than reading the different ways people use the word LIKE.

I really wish we could get back to the days where we called a company brand page, a fan page. Or better yet, we could compromise, why not define them as fan pages but still use the word LIKE to engage people to become a member of that community.

Its become quite amusing reading the different ways people integrate the word LIKE into their posts. Just to mention a few, we have the all caps lock LIKE, the LIKE in italics, the spaced out L-I-K-E, the quotations "like" or the quotations caps lock "LIKE"... it seems like no one really knows how to incorporate it into their posts. Can we get some sort of Facebook guide book or something?

I'm obviously not saying that the whole "LIKE US" thing is a bad idea, it's simple, but that's what makes it work. But I wish we could have kept with the Fan page concept and just incorporated the whole "LIKE US" idea into that mix.
