Zappos gets naked for new campaign

Talk about an interesting way to get some attention!  Typically, when someone in the retail business tries to advertise their product, they usually make sure their models are actually wearing their clothing.  Well...Zappos decided to do something a little different.

It's actually quite a genius idea.  As I'm sure you're already aware, Zappos deals primarily with shoes.  That's what I've always thought and never once considered they might actually sell more than just that.  Zappos thought it might be a good idea to advertise their business by stripping to their bare essentials (literally!!).

As you can tell from the print campaign, you have naked models taking up most of the space, and simply just wearing shoes.  Unfortunately, Zappos decided it might be in their best interest to cover up these women with some cleverly thought out wording.

The slogan "MORE than SHOES"  makes up for the lack of clothes, but also points out that Zappos doesn't simply just sell shoes.  I thought this was very well done, and certainly caught my eye.  Great job!

SoBe: Try not "break the horizon."

What do you think?  Can you make it past this challenge?  Kate Upton, Sport's Illustrated's newest swimsuit model, stars in SoBe's newest spot, "The Staring Contest."  The rules are quite simple, both you and Kate sit across from one another and if you happen to "break the horizon," well, the game's over.  It's harder than it looks, I assure you.  You can go ahead and try for yourself by visiting SoBe's site.  This is certainly a clever campaign and I'm sure will be very popular among the male population.  It would be great if they could somehow implement a 3D version, and truly make it something unique.  Rather than just simply staring at your computer screen, you should literally have Kate Upton sitting across from you in your room.  Something to think about...in the mean time, why not take a look yourself.

Coca-Cola, "Red White and You"

With one of the biggest U.S Holidays behind us, here is a July 4th inspired post.  Appropriately titled "Red, White and You" you would be silly if you didn't know the brand behind this old yet cheesy commercial.  I thought we all needed a little bit of a throwback to start off your Tuesday.  If anyone remembers this commercial being aired, remember to leave me your nostalgic comments below.  In the mean time check it out, and hopefully I'll be back to posting on a more consistent basis from here on out!

Nokia: Splitscreen "A Love Story"

Apologies in advance for not posting as regularly as I did in the past.  I'm hoping to change that immediately, and better yet, before the weekend.  I've always had a soft spot for Nokia, why wouldn't I? It's a Finnish company, and they make some amazing phones, or at least they used to.  Granted, they are stepping in the right direction with their N9, but let's see when it comes out.

Anyhow, with Nokia on my mind, I thought I'd share one of their most recent videos titled "A Love Story".  A pretty cool piece of work.  It was filmed entirely with their N8, and it was part of a series of short movies where people were asked to submit their own movies.

JW Griffiths, the director behind this short film, was crowned the winner of Nokia Shorts 2011.  The video you are about to see shows the parallel lives of a couple in Paris and New York as they eventually make their way to the same spot.

A very creative piece of filmmaking, and very impressive as it was shot entirely on the phone.  I suppose that says a lot about the power behind Nokia's devices.  Let's only hope that they begin moving in the right direction sooner rather than later.
