Because there are mouths that will never speak the truth

I've always questioned the use of QR codes.  Yes, they are cool, but in most cases they are used ineffectively, and all you're left with is a bar code looking square.  I'm sure you've heard of them before, but QR codes are effective when used properly.  So now this leads me to the topic of this post.  It's often quite difficult to get dictators to say what you want them to say, well what if there was?  Free-press advocacy group, Reporters Without Borders have done just that.  As you will soon see, you can use your iPhone to finally get the truth out.  By simply scanning the QR code, and then placing your iPhone over the leader's mouth, it will begin talking as if it were either Gaddafi or Ahmadinejad.  Granted, the mouths don't resemble these leaders at all, the point gets made.  The truth will never be heard.  Probably one of the best uses of a QR code I have seen lately.  What did you think?

T-Mobile: William & Kate boogie down the aisle

*Yawn*...ok I don't know about you but I'm getting pretty bored about constantly hearing about this royal wedding, and how it's apparently the biggest thing all of us need to focus our attention on.  Surely there must be other things we could think about...right?  What's worse is that they are making Kate out to be some peasant, and has never seen money in her life.  To all those that don't know, she is actually rather wealthy.  I digress...so back to this commercial.  T-Mobile originally created it, but I mean, come on...we have all seen this before.  First we saw the YouTube video that made it famous, and then it was re-enacted on The Office, and then there were a countless number of other spoofs.  Bottom line, I'm sick of seeing it.  T-Mobile was on a bit of a run with their unexpected singing shenanigans at Heathrow and Gatwick but here they fall short.  Despite the fact the people in the video eerily resemble the royal family, it's just not funny.  We have seen this before, and at this point it's just overkill.

Sexy Porsche Commercial

Yet again, another spot sent to me by our loyal fan, Chris (I have one more for next week).  What I have for you today is a spot for Porsche.  A rather risque commercial and surely won't be seen anywhere in the U.S. but that's probably why it was created somewhere in Europe.  What you will soon see is a beautiful lady flashing the sexy Porsche on the side of the street and well let's just say the Porsche get's a little excited.

McDonalds: LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Larry Bird, and Michael Jordan

With the NBA playoffs just around the corner, I thought it would be great to highlight a commercial from the NBA to get all the fans excited.  In this relatively old commercial, you'll see LeBron James and Dwight Howard agree to play each other for the coveted McDonalds meal.  After all the blood, sweat, and tears, the camera pans over to NBA legend, Larry Bird, enjoying the meal that the new young superstars are playing for.  In what I originally thought was just a brief snapshot of young vs. old, well it sort of is, but it was brought to my attention by another one of our fans, Chris, that the commercial was actually a copycat of another McDonald's commercial featuring Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.  So...a spot that was just ok has now turned into something a little more interesting and iconic and well worth sharing.

Nike: 100% Recycled Ads

Yet another brilliant ad from Nike.  Not sure how old it is or if it's something current but it was brought to my attention by another one of our fans, Natali.  So, a big thank you to her!  I'm a huge sports fan to begin with, and I'm actually leaving for St. Louis this weekend to run in the St. Louis half marathon, so just watching this has already got me super pumped.  Nike produces a variety of great work, but this commercial in particular is rather unique in that it is compiled of 100% recycled Nike ads.  The fact they were able to piece together past and current ads in one perfect 2 minute clip is amazing.  I liked it, did you?

Arbys: It's Good Mood Food

Cat People.  Dog people. We all look the same way nudeeee.  This spot for Arbys was sent to us by one of our biggest fans Uncle Cliffy.  I for one, know he's a cat person, maybe the attraction he had to the commercial?  If you're a long time reader, you'll know that I like any kind of commercial with a good jingle or song for that matter but this commercial doesn't really do it for me.  Let's begin with the fact that  after I watched the documentary Food, Inc. I don't trust any of these fast food companies and their selection process for their meats.  I rarely eat any fast food, but I'm not going to lie, if it's a late night, you might see me grabbing some classic McDonalds or Burger King for that matter.  You gotta do what you gotta do.  But I digress...I'd say the commercial is quite clever in that it ties the emotional connection food gives us (good mood food) and applies it to the commercial.  On the other hand, this good mood generally lasts for a short period of time and you're left with a stomach ache...the part of the song that was cut due to time constraints I hear.  Overall...I mean...I thought it was ok but really doesn't cut it.
