The Total Package

All these iPhone skits need to end.  It was one thing for Apple to do it, and it was another thing for AT&T  and Verizon to do it, but come on now...T-Mobile now?  Not only is this a desperate plea for attention but to go ahead and recreate something that has already been done so many times is just overkill.  I used to be a T-Mobile customer, not only is their service terrible but they don't even have any good phones!  Great, you have the 4G network!  Don't think that will convince many to switch over.  Now what do they do?  They can't even produce a creative commercial that they came up with themselves but rather they had to copy their competitors.  If you really want to distinguish yourself, well here is a genius idea...COME UP WITH SOMETHING YOURSELF!  Anyhow, the video below is from their newest campaign for 2011.  Enjoy!

Behind the scenes with TheLadders

Remember that commercial I posted about on TheLadders?  You know that outrageous spot with real members looking to become more attractive to 100K+ employers?  If you don't, you can find it here.  Well, I came across what I initially thought was a behind the scenes look at the MAKING of the commercial but it turned out to be more of a sales pitch.  It would have been nice to see how they went about making it...either way, I wanted to share what I found.  I ask you again though, have you or anyone you know had any experience using TheLadders in your job hunt?  Would like to hear what your thoughts were!  Anyways, take a look and leave me your comments!  Enjoy.

The Pleasure of The Burn

I thought this spot by Asics would help bring about the needed motivation to get most of us pumped into plowing through the week. Created in conjunction with Vitro, Asics manages to get down to a very human level and bring to light one of the biggest motivators for any athlete. Check it out below!

This video made me want to strap on my sneakers and chiesel away all the unnecessary pleasantries of being a grown-up.

TiCk, ToCk TiCk, ToCk TiCk, ToCk TiCk, ToCk

...clocks ticking...and you know why?  The iPhone is soon to make its long awaited debut for Verizon come February 10th...or if your like me available to pre-order: February 3rd.  Either way I can't wait to get rid of my BlackBerry Storm!  In my life I have yet to come across a more terrible phone than the Storm.  Everything about is just pure crap and to complain about it would take more than a blog post.  I hope Verizon and BlackBerry team up together and hand in hand dismantle every Storm that was ever made and bury it deep into the ground so that it will never be seen again!

Now...what I have to start your week off is Verizon's first official commercial for the iPhone.  Certainly the clocks just add to the excitement and it makes current subscribers who are waiting to switch that much more antsy.  Just bring it already!!!

In Your Hands

I don't typically come across a lot of cool ads for cars but there was something about this one I found very cool.  One of our avid readers, Mikko Suhonen, sent this over to us and I thought I would feature it for today's post.  The one thing I like about is the creation of the car from the ground up, and more importantly the way they decided to showcase it.  Sort of like a puzzle in a way.  Anyways, not much else to say...remember to keep sending your ads our way and if they're good we will make sure to feature them on one of our daily posts.  Have a great weekend!

The Maker's of the Makers

Today I would like to take a different direction with the featured spot, it consists of a showreel showcasing all the different projects, animations, ads and clips from a digital agency called, The Mill Group.

As you'll soon see this agency has been behind several of the key productions from the past year, ranging from Nike commercials to Tron's digital effects. I recommend you all take a moment to absorb the mind-blowing productions they've come up with this year!

I find Showreels to be very entertaining, especially this one because their work is really remarkable and they are taking needed credit in a very cool way.

MINI vs Monster

Good Morning!! I chose to start the day off with a great commercial from the creative crew over at MINI. I found the spot to be a new take on showcasing their new line-up, despite its lack of technical relevancy - it does a great job in humor, suspense and anticipation.

Can you handle the suspense? Click below to witness the fate of 4 MINI's up against the wrath of "No Mercy"!

Hope you enjoyed!

Turning up the heat at bus shelters

I always love these types of in your face marketing stunts.  Here you have Caribou Coffee outfitting bus shelters with heat lamps to mimic Caribou's new breakfast sandwiches.  What better way to get your customers to remember who you are by literally tossing them in your oven!  I don't know about you but I hate waiting for public transportation especially in the cold.  SO...with that said, if you make the wait somewhat more enjoyable, you've got my vote and I'll pay a visit to your store!  What do you think of it?

On another note, you may or may not know this but I work as a social media volunteer at Autism Speaks.  I've been trying to think of news ways to engage the audience on the 5K Page I work on.  So...I recently took on the idea of video blogging and my first attempt can be seen below!  How do you think I did?  Any other cool ideas for future videos?  Let me know!  Otherwise remember to LIKE the Autism Speaks 5K page on Facebook!

Everyone likes a good entrance

Everyone likes a good entrance right?  Well, here you have spot featuring one of the most creative and memorable entrances everrr from Heineken.  The key guy makes his entrance to the party, greets royalty, makes a few jokes, moves onto some party tricks, and even has the time to play the flute.  What more can this guy do?  Besides stealing the show, everyone loves an upbeat commercial and this is exactly what it provides.  I don't know about you but I leave this a) wanting a Heineken and b) going out to a party haha.  Anyways, take a look and let me know what you thought!

Be More Attractive to $100K+ Employers

Anyone think this might work?  I've been on the job hunt for too long now and I don't know what it's going to take, do I seriously need to start modeling myself like the guy above?  Well if anyone out there knows, please share your wisdom in the comments section because I would love to know!  Better yet, if you have any funny stories about your job hunt I would love to know as well.  So far #1 on my list is when I received a rejection letter from an environmental company in the mail printed on non-recycled paper with my last name spelled wrong.  I took the time to apply, the least you can do is get my name right.  Anyways, I could rant about this forever, but I thought it was appropriate to share since todays post is on TheLadders, the company that finds you that 100K+ job.  100K sounds pretty good right about now doesn't it?  The spot below is from their 2011 campaign with actual employees from TheLadders strutting their stuff in sexy work attire looking to make themselves that much more attractive for the perfect job.  Does it work?  You be the judge.  Let me know what you thought, and better yet, if you have had any experience using TheLadders please let us and other job seekers know!

Other then that, I wish everyone a safe and happy weekend, try not doing anything stupid, and look out for some more great posts next week!

(Update 1/14/11): I originally thought that they were actual employees featured in the commercial but I have recently found out that the commercial features actual members of TheLadders service)

The Captain Morgan Workout

A gym goer myself, I could totally see Captain Morgan's workout being used worldwide.  The list of muscles it targets is so unique that no other workout out there could possibly compare.  Well what I have for you today is a workout routine used by Captain Morgan himself.  He believes that his trademarked hand on knee stance will lead to world class results.

In all seriousness, I would have to say that it's a pretty amusing sketch but it would have been much better if it was a little shorter.  I feel like it drags on a bit.

Anyhow...I'm off to go do my Captain Morgan workout.  Leave me some comments!  Enjoy!

The Beer Bottle Orchestra

Another beer inspired post for everyone this morning.  The holidays might be over but that doesn't mean beer maker Grolsch can't wish you a Merry Christmas.  Like yesterday, this is yet another very creative way of using our dear friend beer for more creative uses.  Something that reminds me of home is the flip cap tops.  I haven't seen those around here in the U.S. but when I was living in Austria that tended to be the norm for many of the beers there.  Anyhow, take a moment and and enjoy this holiday inspired ad and let me know what you thought!

Probably the best ad in the world. Probably the best beer in the world.

Probably one of the most creative ways to open a bottle of beer.  Something like this could be used if you happen to find yourself stranded on an island or deep in the forest and you have nothing but a magazine and a bottle of Carlsberg.  Well, today I bring to you an ad from Duval Guillaume, an agency located in Belgium.  They have designed an ad with a few simple instructions that if followed correctly, could provide you with a handy party trick for this weekend.  Why not give it a go after watching it!  Let me know what happens.  I might give it a shot myself and if I get it to work I'll post my attempt!

Standing shoulder to shoulder all 7 billion of us would fill the city of Los Angeles

Finally I'M BACK!  I haven't posted since I left for vacation, but I figured I should get back into it.  First off, Happy New Year!  I can't believe it is 2011!  How has the beginning of the year treated you so far?  I'm currently still in London, but I'll be back in DC Sunday, and once I get back I hope to get back to posting on a regular basis.  Better yet, I wanted to get in a post before all of you head off to enjoy your weekend.  With that said, here is a post from the National Geographic.  If you didn't think we had enough people on Earth get a load of this!  Apparently the human population will reach 7 billion in 2011.  The spot below is from National Geographic, and it's looking to promote a seven-part, year long series on global population.  I have a few friends who work for National Geographic, so I'll have to see if they have any other info about it!  Anyways, pretty cool video, check it out!

Conan, A Master of the Meticulous

Welcome back everyone! I wish you all great success this year to come and hope you achieve most if not all of your resolutions!! 2011 will be a great year for theWIM and we expect to improve the level of content we offer you guys!

So with that said, I'll bring around the first spot of the new year! It involves the branding geniuses over at the Conan Show in collaboration with American Express. Last year we posted a video that highlighted Conan's extreme attention to the detail in his show's draperies and the video below further solidifies his need for perfectionism in all of the elements that bring his show to life. Check it out below!!

As you can see, Conan takes great care in selecting the scene accessories that make him a legend with great care and AMEX helps him achieve this.

With the recession finally starting to clean up and the travel flow outside of the U.S. border regaining its strength - AMEX chose a clever path that enriches customers with the knowledge of how things are made and the global travel opportunities available to their customers. Awesome work! Catch the "making-of" video down below.
