The Infraction

Goodmonday to you all! Despite my hesitation to begin the week I leave you with this clever spot created by Crispin Porter + Kennedy. It features a witty little fellow who takes it to the man.
I haven't seen a lot of work from CP+B lately, but this ad tells me they are still up to some great stuff over there. A great way to start the week with some brief entertainment. I'll look into more ads from them to let you in on their creative scoop. Check out the KRAFT video below!

I love the simplicity of the spot, it riles a chuckle from the audience and does a great job tempting one to have a spoonful of that golden gooey mess. I'd like to see more ads like this, somehow it managed to lure my inner-child and wake the forgotten cravings!

Do you guys know of any more ads from Kraft?

I got the pride and my ride in my swagger wagon

I hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend! If where you work is like most places you should have the day off today!  So my goal is to get your morning off to a great start!  Therefore I present you with a commercial from Sienna, titled "Swagger Wagon."

This hilarious commercial is targeted towards all the minivan families out there who get a Sienna SE for space but fill it with a little bit of swagger.   According to Toyota, this new Sienna is the first minivan with adults' minds in mind. This particular spot was orchestrated by comedy director Jody Hill, and it features two parents who perform a funny rap skit.  The commercial is composed of funny lines and two characters who keep your interest throughout.  I don't know what it is about white people rapping but it always seems to be hilarious.

I've never been a minivan person myself, I actually think they are pretty ugly but I would actually consider buying this Sienna.  I feel that many people have the "soccer mom" perception surrounding minivans but this commercial gives it a whole new "cool" feeling...like it actually might not be too bad to own a car like this if you have a big family.

Check out the video below and let me know what you think!

Lets build a smarter planet

Interactivity, its great because it takes you places and makes you feel never conceived before feelings toward a brand. Personally, I really enjoy discovering new advents in the field of marketing because they empower change, for the better and place the weight of deep thought upon those who create.

The example below, is a video produced to promote the ongoing advents at IBM. The advent I am featuring below, in essence, teaches the old pony a new trick. And it doesn't teach the trick to praise how easily glittery distractions blind those who need to step up and head the needed change. Check it out below!

Yes, they are using the traditional billboard medium; however, they are employing a strategy that demonstrates the power behind focusing thought to create new experiences and products. It gets managers to rethink their conceptions of supply chain and create the innovation necessary to stay competitive.

To do list for beer lovers

Walking around downtown DC and came across this clever ad for Samuel Adams.  I usually find it difficult to find any great beer in the US but I kinda like Samuel Adams.  Anyways, I thought this ad was fantastic.  Not only was it very clever but it really made me want to go and get a gigantic sharpie and have a pint somewhere and go mark each one off haha.

Regardless, what's more fitting to start your weekend than a beer ad?

So take this opportunity to get yourself ready for the weekend and plan a trip to the liquor store to buy yourself some beer!

Have a great weekend!

Like this and Like that and Uh!

It seems like hamsters are all the rage these days in the advertising world. And I can't argue how nicely executed the spot created by David&Goliath is below.
D&G have been coming up with some great campaigns that are coherent with their consumers mindset and lifestyle. For a long time, I felt the voice of the typical lower-to-middle class segment was misspoken by brands. A lot of noise and not enough creative impact.

What do I mean by creative impact? Well the video below does a great job of personifying a segment through an otherwise cute and cuddly creature. It takes on attributes of the segment and empowers them in a creative way that allows the target audience to identify with its brand.

In this case KIA is touting a new hyper-stylized car that comes with all the benefits that the other hamsters limited rides don't have. Check it out below!

Hopefully D&G is smart enough to not flood the mainstream channels with this commercial so it doesn't lose its edge and become an overplayed, undercommunicated spot like everything else out there.

Mouse vs. Cheese...the ultimate battle

As much as I hate these little creatures, this commercial is pretty funny.  Though...I keep asking myself, why did Nolans go with a mouse eating their cheese?  Clearly they were trying to illustrate that their cheddar cheese is "seriously strong" but did we really need to use a mouse?

As amusing as the commercial is, I don't see myself buying or eating this cheese because of the fact that it reminds me of a mouse haha.  Does anyone else feel that way?  I'll give these guys credit for producing a funny commercial, but in terms of  leaving a tasteful image, all I'm left with is an image of a mouse eating your cheese.  But hey! Worse comes to worse, if you do have mice, you can always use Nolan's cheese to trap them! I would go with another mouse trap though since the ones used in the video clearly didn't work ;)

Anyways, check it out!

Would you have a drink with, who?

I'll start this fine Wednesday morning with a $18.3 million campaign created by Ogilvy for Stolichnaya. $18.3 is the price you pay for confusion, irrelevancy, and bad acting.

Sorry Hef, I respect your playboy lifestyle... but praising yourself over a Stoli while talking to your magnate twin isn't going to take you very far. Nor is it doing Stoli any good given the brand's product is lost in your storm of ego. Check out the video below!

I would have enjoyed the collaboration had the product's attributes been praised alongside Hef's ego. In my opinion this commercial leaves a lot left in blank and one can only question what kind of mumbo jumbo agencies are brewing these days. Praise the drink! And then let us know why Hef can't mack on young bunnies without it!

Stoli should have kept with the spirit of the World Cup and come up with something interesting. I am sure the Heineken and Guinness folks are up to some great good. Any hints to possible commercials from those two??

MTV Understands

With the World Cup looming and distractions at an all time high, commercials like the one below capture the essence of the summer to come. And it's always great to see the spirit of the World Cup fever taking its toll on other mediums.

For this commerical MTV hired creative powerhouse La Comunidad to come up with a witty commercial excusing the lack of attention of its followers. Its perfectly scripted and I must admit, I am a big fan of the style and prose they achieve in most of their campaigns. Check it out below!

I'll be on the lookout for similar commercials praising the all-consuming effect of the World Cup, and if you happen to spot anything worth sharing, please post in our comments section!

Let the cup begin!

Strategy with a Splat!

Hello Again! It's been quite too long of time since I've had the chance to post. I apologize for my absence and am glad to be back on a more comfortable working schedule... without further delay, I present a viral campaign created by DDB Milan for Lavonline.

The basic premise was to introduce this new service to a predetermined target in order to boost usage and awareness. The reason why I chose to highlight this campaign is because of its originality and cleverness. Below you will find a video created by DDB that explains the gist of the campaign.

I believe the campaign works exceptionally well, given its target group and the cleverness in communication. The video and the concept are explained very well in the video, so I won't take up your time explaining the unnecessary.

Don't you wish you had this service in your hometown? At least getting one of those boxes would be fun, especially with that tomato to throw around!

It's good to be back!

21 Days: 10 HRS: 27 MIN: 30 SEC until...

THE WORLD CUP
(Time is from the point I started writing this post)

I don't know if I can wait any longer, the World Cup needs to get here immediately.  I recently posted a Puma commercial getting people amped up about the World Cup and then now I present you with another commercial that will air for the first time this Saturday during the Champions League final!

Be the first to see it on The WIM!

This 3 minute commercial is just as impressive, it features the likes of Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Fabio Cannavaro, Landon Donovan and Cristiano Ronaldo.  Oh and it has some guest appearances by Roger Federer and Kobe Bryant, and even our favorite TV personality Homer Simpson.
This commercial really has it all.

The commercial is titled "Write the Future" and what it's trying to tell us is that one move can either lead to football success or failure as seen by the unshaven Wayne Rooney hanging out in the trailer park with Frank Ribery taking all the spotlight on the billboard.  That is enough for now! Check out the video!

Don't talk while he...

drives.

As you can see, this is a pretty intense advertisement warning you about the risks associated with driving with your mobile phone.  It's pretty dramatic but at the same time this is a serious concern facing everyone today.  Mobile phones have turned into such powerful devices that consumers can't just let go of them anymore, and unfortunately what's happening is that people are texting, checking their e-mails, snapping photos, and don't forget they can still be used to call people.

Ever noticed people doing the cell phone walk? You know what I'm talking about...they have no idea where they are going because they are walking but constantly looking down and texting or e-mailing on their phone.  I say next time, stop and let them walk into you haha.  Let me know what happens!  Anyhow, let me hear your thoughts regarding this ad.  I'm guilty of a lot of the things I mentioned, but I really should just focus on the road!

In other news, I twisted my ankle yesterday playing basketball :(  Here is a photo:

Let's hope it gets better soon!

Starbucks...are you kidding me?

Starbucks...who are you kidding? That's what I would like to know after finding out about Starbucks' newest promotional campaign.  I went into Starbucks the other day and found out that they now have the new however-you-want-it frappuccino
It doesn't stop there, now it's made to order just like any of their other handcrafted drinks.  I simply don't understand who Starbucks is trying to fool.  A big fan of the frappuccino, I've been making it made to order since like 2003 haha.  Regular milk never really sits well with me so what did I do?  Whenever I ordered my frappucino's I just asked them to put in soy milk.  These days my stomach has some what become better and so if I wanted a not so fatty frappuccino I would ask for skim milk and then ask for no whipped cream.  I know there was a "happy hour" associated with this little gimmick but even with that, this "new" frappuccino is a load of crap.  Sorry Starbucks.  If I'm missing something please let me know because I don't see what the "new frappuccino" is.

In ADDITION to this, what do you guys think of including a slurpy straw with the frappuccino.  The drink often gets topped with whipped cream and caramel, and the common thing is to just eat it off with the straw but imagine how much easier it would be if we had a spoon type straw that would allow us to do that.  I don't know why they won't just come out with something like that, it must be the same reason why Starbucks won't come out with a proper lid that you can close, like the ones Dunkin Donuts has.  Oh well, that is life!

"The Man Who Walked Around the World"

I couldn't be more happy to post this.  The Johnnie Walker commercial featuring Robert Carlyle is one of my personal favorites.  We actually posted this a while back but every YouTube video we had of it kept blocking it.  Well I'm happy to say that we posted it again and this video shouldn't get blocked!  This particular spot from BBH/London "walked away with the One Show's Best of Show honor at the One Club's 35th Annual event, held at New York's Lincoln Center" (Creativity).

Anyways, just check it out! It's awesome.

"I get through life knowing that...

a lot of stupid people exist."  That was probably one of the greatest things I have heard in a long time.  But isn't it true?  I've always wondered why people always seem to complain whenever anything happens, especially when it comes to change.  Take a look around you, someone is always complaining about something.  Are there no satisfied people out there?  We as human beings always have to find something to complain about, and funny enough people are more likely to tweet something negative than positive, that's an interesting thought.  You can certainly see that this is true, whenever some kind of change happens and people don't like it, they are right on Facebook or Twitter expressing their sometimes very ridiculous and extreme views.  I've always wanted to chime in on their conversations  but like I said, I get through life knowing that a lot of stupid people exist.

What I find funny though is that these conversations are always between people who share similar views because the opposing view can't be bothered to comment, and when someone does dare to comment they are replied back with an even more ridiculous comment.  I'm sure you have seen this before.  What I think they should do, is create a forum on Facebook specifically for these debates haha...well I guess they could create a discussion? Actually can you?  If not, it would be a great idea.  I'm not really referencing anything in particular it's just something I have noticed, but it's just that I think some people need to learn to keep some of their views and thoughts to themselves.  Anyways, my solution from now on is knowing that a lot of stupid people exist, and I can filter out the stupid people and focus my time on the smart people.  Here is your Wednesday morning ramble brought to you by The WIM.  If you would like to express your own Wednesday morning ramble about any topic that is bothering you, please use the comment section and we would be happy to read it!

Puma: Journey of Football 2010

With the World Cup in South Africa right around the corner, I thought it would be fitting to post one of the newest commercials produced by Puma.  Just watching this gets me all excited, and I can't wait for the tournament to start! What team are you rooting for?  Being from Finland I can't remember the last time my country ever made the World Cup so I have two teams I root for, and those are England and Brazil!  If you would like to know my reasoning behind my choices shoot me a tweet or a Facebook fan comment and I'll be happy to get back to you!

Puma does a great job of creating that harmony that football brings to people.  Yes, I said it.  Football!  The name that actually makes sense ;)  I don't know what it is about football but somehow it manages to bring everyone together and cheer for their respective countries no matter if you like the sport or not...probably one of the biggest reasons why it's so great.  Anyways, after you check out this video, let me know what team you are rooting for? and more importantly will you be in South Africa?

Old Spice Odor Blocker IS just plain craaazy

YoyoYoyo!! Ok so I've been meaning to put this commercial up for the LONGEST time but I just haven't had the time and so I figured I should finally just go ahead and do it.  This could probably be the most intense Old Spice commercial I have seen haha, a dramatic change from their last commercial with the guy on the horse.  This commercial features this guy I have seen on TV before but being terrible with names I just know him by face, but he is definitely somewhat famous I guess you could say.  You will surely recognize him once you see it.  Now that you clearly know who he is from my perfect description, he has some pretty intense muscles judging from the commercial.  What I found funny about the commercial is the extra arm that comes out, and the guy asks "is that my left bicep" and then the camera pans down and the guy says "nah it was my aaaaabbdominal."  Now I don't know if it's just me but that had to have some sort of sexual connotation behind it, but you be the judge:

Christiaan Van Vuuren is "the Fully Sick Rapper"

Good mornnnnnning! Hope everyone is doing well.  This is just another video on how the Internet can shoot you into stardom out of nowhere!  Well...Christiaan Van Vuuren decided to make a series of amazing viral rap videos during his stay at a hospital after he was diagnosed with tuberculosis (I'm not sure how he is doing now, so any update would be appreciated!).

I don't want to spoil the video or the story as it's all explained in the video, but I find it amazing that this guy was able to capitalize on his stay at the hospital with the use of the Internet and turn himself into a star.

Enough about that, here is the video!

Chat Roulette ft. Your host, Merton, freestyling in real-time with random strangers

Happy Monday everyone! How is everyone doing? Any fun things planned for the week?  As promised I'm looking to post on a more continuos basis so let's hope I keep it up! Anyways, let's get down to the point of the post! I'm almost positive all of you have seen this guy but I just came across him and thought I would feature two of his videos.  His name is Merton and he freestyles with random chat roulette users with his piano.  I talked about chat roulette the first time during easter weekend when I posted about Dr. Pepper and their april fools joke!  I thought that was pretty good but this right here certainly tops it.  Though I must admit the people who hang out on chat roulette are either extremely young or appear to be extremely lonely, I don't know that's just my take.  If anyone has ever used it leave a comment and let me know what you thought! I would love to hear about it.  Anyways, let me go ahead and post the videos and as always feel free to leave your comments below!  Have a great Monday!

Why is the last piece...

always so bad to take? Have you ever noticed that?  You know what I mean...you're at a restaurant sharing an appetizer and all of you are clearly hungry but when it comes to the last piece of food everyone seems to get awkward.  No one dares to grab the last piece because they want to appear polite, but we all know you really want to eat it.  So the question is why don't you?

Everyone around the table is just staring at it, and I'm not going to lie I always eat the last piece just because most of the time I'm pretty damn hungry, so why not? I understand it's the polite thing to do but we even go so far as to OFFER the last piece to everyone around the table, are you kidding me!  You want this piece so badly but you will offer it to everyone besides yourself.  Now you know what happens next right? There is always SOMEONE at the table who says "yeah! I'll have it"

and then magic...you are left with NOTHING.  Just like that. Poof!

So...I'm going to leave you with some advice and try twist this around.  Starting from today, I want you to always take the last piece.  If you want it so badly, just take it.  You see this "last piece of food" dilemma in your own professional lives.  We are blessed with so many opportunities in life that could change everything, but how many of those have you actually taken?  Probably not that many...and guess what there is always someone else out there who will take it.  Think of that job you have always wanted to do but you tell yourself...no I don't think I can do it or you just think about it for days and days just like the last piece of food of the table, you just let it sit there until it eventually gets taken right from under your nose.  If you really want to do something just go out there and do it, because how else will you know if that's what you should be doing if you never try?  Just remember that there is always someone else out there who is itching to take your opportunity from you, and so it's your job to make sure that never happens.  So take that last piece before I do.

That's enough about that! Today is actually the first day I have posted in a veryyyy long time.  You have no idea how busy I've been and it was either update some posts or finish school haha, so I chose school. I had my last day of classes on Wednesday and have officially wrapped up my MBA!  A pretty exciting time of my life and I'm looking forward to what this will bring me.  The family is coming over from Europe for my graduation next Sunday so everything is pretty much perfect.  All I need now is to find a job!  I've given myself a small break after finishing classes but I need to start searching again!  Here is a video I found, kind of motivating but wanted to share it with everyone!

Anyways, with my new free time, I promise the team at World in Motion will be coming out with more posts on a more continuous basis!
