Good morning!! So yesterday's post and today's post have been on the darker side of things but who said you couldn't mix it up a bit? Also, let me warn you now that there is some language that might not be appropriate for the work setting so if you have headphones, I would advise to put those in now. Well if you remember back in May I posted about Merton, who freestyled with his piano with random strangers . Well as it turned out, that was a pretty effective way to create viral content. So...what did the people from Lionsgate do? They hired the Visionaire Group of Los Angeles to promote the movie The Last Exorcism through chat roulette. If you don't know what chat roulette is, you pretty much chat with random strangers via the webcam. SO...what better way to promote this scary flick than by scaring the hell out of random people. I won't say more, check it out:
The people behind this knew exactly what they were doing but I do have some thoughts. Yes, it was effective in that they scared some people with this promotion, but as you can tell the people they caught on video were a bunch of young kids clearly waiting for this girl to take off her top. Having said that, did they really target the right group of people? Then again it probably wasn't their intention. Their goal was to get this to go viral and that it has. I'm sure movie sales are going to go up, but from what I have heard, you can't just remake the classic Exorcist movie. Anyways, I open it up to you! What did you think of this promotion? I'm going to be honest, if I was on chat roulette and saw that, I'm pretty sure I would have been scared.
