The Man and The Woman return.



Good morning! Today's post brings the return of "The Man".  APL wrote about him a little while ago, and I tried to find the post to show you guys but I was having some trouble finding it.  Anyways, Fallon, London produced this spot for French Connection UK starring the "quintessential man and woman, promoting the fashion label's Fall/Winter 2010 line" (Creativity).  From the looks of it, it seems as if they are trying to copy the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World" and my personal favorite the "Old Spice" guy.  Though..."The Man" isn't as funny or clever as the latter, he brings a certain je nais se quoi to the whole campaign.  Not really a personal favorite but it certainly is one of the more artsy pieces floating around.  What do you think?

  1. After some ... technical dfficulties (ahem!), I watched this and a couple of the others in the set. Okay, intriguing. The "Man" spots are better than the "Woman" spots. The Man himself is so unappealing and repulsively dirty that he actually transcends himself and becomes v attractive and sexy. The "Man" segments play against type, while the "Woman" relies on cliches and the woman just being pretty and inscrutable. The Man is dirty AND attractive -- which is hard to pull off, either by a model or by an ad company. Still, I had no idea what the ads were for -- I have no idea what French Connection is. I thought, actually, it was for a fragrance. Haha. Because, you know, the man is French and, therefore, stinks. However, I remain intrigued. I nod appreciatively.
