I gotta be me, I've gotta be me

Good morning!!  Here is a South African spot from Saatchi & Saatchi for Cadbury.  Probably one of the stranger commercials I've come across but I still thought it was worth putting up.

Throughout the commercial we follow this elegant ostrich walk to the music of Sammy Davis Jr's song "I gotta be me".  All of a sudden we notice the ostrich is actually in an airplane and is about to go skydiving.  Skydiving you wonder?  Well if you didn't know an ostrich can't actually fly.  The song choice was well chosen and throughout the spot we see the ostrich mimic the songs lyrics.  This particular ostrich didn't believe in what others had to say and took it on his own to fly!

Anyways, check out the spot and watch the Cadbury ostrich go on his maiden flight!

~Until Next Time~

  1. For a good two-thirds of this ad, it looks like this is a suicidal ostrich on a mission to End It All. Which is creepy. The Cadbury logo sucks. But I love the sexy/seductive way they've got the ostrich opening up its enormous eye as the back of the plane opens. Can you get turned on by the ratites? Well, that's as close as I'd like to get. Altogether, this is good without being spectacular. By no means would it get me to buy the product.

  2. Thanks for the comment Cliff. I'm in agreement with you, it actually does look like this ostrich is on some sort of suicidal mission! Though I'm curious, what about the Cadbury logo do you not like?
