Imagine wearing the link to your Facebook profile on your t-shirt

Happy Thursday to you all! I hope everyone isn't feeling too bad after their St. Patrick's Day festivities...but then again take this as an opportunity to stay home from work and sit in front of the couch and recover with a nice bowl of Lucky Charms.  I don't know about you but I'm pretty excited for the basketball to start...the bracket is ready, the couch is ready, and the TV is ready.  Now if only my bracket picks work out hmm. I hope I caught your eye with the subject of this post because it's true, well sort of.  There have been some recent Facebook updates going on and the one I would like to share is the implementation of QR codes.  What's a QR code you ask? Well does the image below ring a bell?
I'm sure you have seen something similar to the above image.  A quick description of the code above is that it contains a special little barcode that has an image or a video somehow embedded in it.  Anyways, what Facebook has done is that it has given each profile a unique QR code, exactly like the BlackBerry has on its messenger service.  They haven't officially rolled it out but it seems like it is in the works.  Now imagine walking around with a link to your Facebook profile on a specially designed shirt with your barcode?

I'm not sure how I feel about this or the idea regarding QR codes for your profile.  I don't know why you would want it? I guess if you quickly wanted to add a friend you could just scan their code? I'm sure that's the idea but why wouldn't you just go onto Facebook and type the persons name in? Oh yeah I forgot, humans are lazy.

How would you feel about wearing a link to your profile on your shirt? Besides getting random friend requests, I think it might actually be a great idea for businesses.  What better way to spread the word about your company than wearing it on you AND taking the person who scans the code to your company's fan page.  Obviously you would have to mention somewhere on the shirt that it was for a company but I think that would be kind of cool.

Anyways, if you have any thoughts you know the drill.

Leave a comment and I'll reply, if you're nice that is.

Now..bring on the basketball.

~Until Next Time~

  1. If everyone had a QR code reader attached to their computer this might be useful.

  2. That is a very interesting idea! Or maybe even like a business card with just QR codes to your personal sites. That might even work better? Thanks for the comment!
