Vanity Flop!

Rummaging through my daily list of ad commercials, I came across this particularly puzzling ad by Jeep. With your help, I hope to decipher what exactly the creatives and executives were thinking when they came up with this commercial.

The commercial starts off with the usual female invigorating routine of a day at a salon. Two girls, lots of brushes and blow-dryers with a victorious stride out of the salon and into their jeeps - I imagine this as completely normal. Then confusion kicks in as these two ladies drive off with their hair wildly dancing in the breeze. My question, why would two women who have just spent ridiculous amounts of money on their hair even consider doing this after? I mean, how liberating or realistic can this actually be?

I believe Jeep chose the wrong direction to go with this ad. I would accept two girls driving by a salon in their Jeeps as they laugh at their confined counterparts as being the truly liberating experience for any Jeep driver, not vice-versa!

  1. The music in the background sounds like a cheesy 80s commercial, what on earth were they thinking?! The funny thing is that I was actually about to post about this too! I was on Hulu the other day and one of the commercials were from Jeep and it used the same 80s music in the back. I've been trying to find it but no luck yet. The "you so hot ... hot" is not just annoying but it sounds like they are advertising a cup of coffee or a burger!
